Out of curiosity, are the protagonist's names not Sun and Moon? I know gamefreak never released official names for them, but during the Sun and Moon demos they named the male Sun so I assumed the female would be Moon. But their respective tags still have them listed as male and female protagonist.

It's a shame that the tags is still listed as is.
Thing is the male/female protagonists do have names.
Male protagonist had Elio for English and Yō in Japanese.
Female protagonist had Selene for English and Mizuki in Japanese.
Both names apparently sourced from pre-release media.
Unused data also found names where male was referred to as Kai and female was Lana.

^ English name is a bit harder to say since Moon (female) and Sun (male) have been used more than Elio and Selene.

But since gelbooru takes the Japanese names the protagonists should be Mizuki and Yō already. No idea why it's taking so long to change the tags.

Pre-release media, at least for Pokemon games usually don't use what end up as the official names.

By all technicality, these characters don't have any canon names yet.
