This is a hell of a lot more morbid when you find out what Mareanie and its evolution Toxapex actually eat...

From the bite marks on Corsola's spike, I'm guessing she's saving it, not feeding it to the Mareanie.

Okay, let's clear something up. Mareanie and Toxapex DO NOT eat Corsola; they only eat the Corsola's spikes. As a NPC mentions in the game, it does not hurt the Corsola physically. At worst, it is a traumatizing experience for the Corsola.

^

Pokedex entries say otherwise.

^ Mareanie and Toxapex both only have one 'dex entry that directly references Corsola.
Mareanie's says "The coral that grows on Corsola’s head is as good as a five-star banquet to this Pokémon."
It is not eating he Corsola directly, just the branches.

The part in Toxapex's entry about "Corsola bits" can be taken either way. If you prefer the darker side, it could mean the remains of an entire Corsola. If you want to lighten it up, they could just be scraps of branches.

Or it could just be Rotomdex fucking with us, who knows?

When Corsola calls for help, theres a chance that Mareanie would appear and attack the Corsola.
