Why is her name written like "Chidafuyu"? I've seen that before, but never understood it.

If I'm not mistaken, the name of ships in Japan is written "backwards" but read out loud normally. So for example Shimakaze becomes Zekamashi when written.
In this case her name is read Yufudachi despite being written Chidafuyu.
