It's not an excuse, it's more of a warning for those who might want to use MMD for this purpose. You can make it work but it'll take an inordinate amount of effort to do it well. That's why most MMD erotists either work softcore or make still images only rather than videos.
As to why somebody might use this over SFM, for example: MMD is free and 98% of the models, stages and accessories are too. Also, many MMD models are of characters not represented in SFM (and vice versa) and the differences in rigging and physics (MMD's are more primitive rigid body physics vs. SFM's soft body physics) make it very hard to port models from one format to the other.
