While I'm fairly certain this is how an actual fight between those two would end, what with TP Link's greater skill with the sword, greater physical strength and all, I still find this to be a strange match up for a fight to the death. They literally have no reason to fight. Also, doesn't matter which Link that is, at most he only lost 1/20th of his health. So neither is has won yet.

Game Theory did an analysis of how powerful each link is and who was the strongest. I dont really agree with his conclusion, but its a good breakdown.

The Hero of Time vs The Hero of Light.

Anon 1 TPs Link learned Swordplay from the Heroes spirit, whom many speculate is the Hero of Time (if you believe in the Grief Theory who died at the start of Majoras Mask as a child after the events of OoT.) which gave him a larger roster of techniques, however he still swings slower than OoTs Link when it comes to Fighting enemies in game which just the sword.

TPs Link also lacks another aspect that OoTs Link has and that's the ability to control Magic. TPs Link never learned that and OoTs Link would have access to attacks like Din's Fire and Nayru's Love. The latter of which would have nullified any damage TP's Link would deal during a good chunk of time, combat wise. That along with OoT Links superior equipment (Golden Gauntlets Elemental Arrows ect) I'm fairly sure the result would be the reverse OoTs Link would win

Anon3, it's canon that the Hero's Shade is the ghost of the Hero of Time.

The Grief Theory is bullshit though, Twilight Princess Link is confirmed to be the Hero of Time's descendant, so he must have lived long enough to have had at least one kid.

TP Link is the Descendent of the Hero of Time through the Timeline where He continues down the road as an adult. Grief theory applies to when he goes back to live as a child. Alternate futures.

HoT could/would have Nayru's Love & Romani Chateau: an indefinite forcefield maintained by infinite mana.

Hyrule Historia does confirm the Zelda Timeline as revolving around Multiverse Theory O.O but I'm with the Anon with the grief theory thinking Link died in Majoras Mask after hearing about it through Game Theory I went and replayed Majora's Mask and combed through every bit of it looking for evidence to back that claim up and found quite a bit and alot of evidence that wasn't mentioned in Game Theory o.o for example:

The DABDA 5 Stages (Denial Anger Bargaining Depression Acceptance) are all clearly depicted throughout the main 5 areas of the game in their proper order through a few of the characters actions. The Romani sisters also experiance all of these stages during their time in the game if you take time to explore everything in their ranch but it's not in the same order.

Another Example is The side Characters o.o Most of them are reused character sprites from Ocarina of Time given different names and roles in Termina which is an alternate dimention from Hyrule (Malon being used as the Romani sisters with them using her Child and Adult forms to depict them and Talon being Mr.Barten and Ingo being the 3 Gormans) this is true for almost EVERY side character except for 3 Dampe' the Gravekeeper and the Twinrova Witches Koume and Kotake Both maintain similar personas and Identities as they had in OOT and These 3 share one thing in common... Dying in OOT and Becoming Ghosts with Halos clearly showing their dead.

The last clinch for me was the Canyon area The "Land of the Dead" where the theme is acceptance part of the Grief theory mentions how Link is beginning to understand his fate and when he finds the Light arrows at the top of Stone Tower he has acheived enlightenment and realizes that he died then he has to fight an enemy that Resembles the Grim Reaper in order to get the big key which could be a symbol for him "Conquering his Fear of Death" as part of his Acceptance Then when he goes to the final battle with the Skull kid the inside of the Moon is a Beautiful area almost like Heaven. not what you'd expect at all considering the tone of the game...

Majoras Mask has a HEAVY emphasis on Death what with all the characters you get your transforming Masks having to die first The Fierce Deity being among them (looks like a Spirit version of Link) the Elegy of Emptyness making statues that look like Effigies and looking more like the original characters rather than the Link version of them when you play it. I mean it's not confirmed by Nintendo but theres also the fact they NEVER made another game with the Hero of Time to say otherwise The opening to Windwaker hints the Hero didn't return when Ganon came back even though it was only a "Short time" There is alot of lore that is backing up this theory in game O.O Enough to say I'm a believer it was Subtle but I think thats what they were trying to say The guys at Nintendo are probobly just having a ball with this though

The Hero of Light is still the best Link though :3

I'll say it again: the Grief Theory is explicitly contradicted by canon.

Twilight Princess Link is the Hero of Time's descendant, and the Hero's Shade is his ghost, so he definitely lived long enough to have at least one kid (Presumably with Malon) and develop the sword techniques he would go on to teach to TP Link as the Hidden Skills.

Sure, they could fight to see who is the most powerful Link, but may I propose an alternative course of action?

Foursome.
