Something bother me heavily with this show :
The Kabane's hearts are harder than steel, so quite harder than an human spine/bone.
So why do they keep shooting/attacking the heart instead of cutting the head off ?
I mean... it's been a bit less than a hundred year since the "creation" of zombies and every show got that right. The characters that are brainless enough to try to waste their bullets in a zombie leg or heart are all dead.
And it's logical to destroy the brain since everytime they won't stop even if they don't have a drop of blood... which should happen with so many holes.

The Kabane's hearts may be harder than steel and decapitation may look like an easier method for killing the Kabane but it still takes a LOT of strength to fully decapitate a human head from its body, especially if someone is aiming to take it off with a single stroke.
And considering most of the Bushi were used to attacking the Kabane with rifles over swords their minds were mentally telling them to attack the heart and when there are dozens of them attacking at once the mind is probably telling them to attack the spot they're used to with rifles rather than aiming for the legs to slow down some targets while those brave enough with swords to try and attack those coming closer. Plus the torso is bigger and much easier to hit and let's be real, most of the Bushi were as much of cannon fodder as the Survey Corps is in Attack on Titan.

The Reason is that blowing off their Heads with their Weapons at that time was almost impossible, cause these Zombies lived from Iron Dust so they could regenerate even their non existent brain almost instantly, you should watch the show then you would know that already.
