You'd think the leading expert on pokemon wouldn't shove his head into a pokemon's ear.

^ No, after Hey You, Pikachu! I'm pretty sure everyone realized Prof. Oak doesn't know shit about Pokemon.

Pretty sure the "leading experts on Pokemon" in the setting are all frauds. That's why they get children to do their work for them and why the stupid Pokedex entries are so stupid, they're written by children. Remember when Rhyhorn could knock down the Empire State Building? Or when Rapidash could jump over it? Or how Slugma is hotter than the Sun? Or how Abra is a mutant Human child? Or how Heracross's brain is more advanced and faster than a super computer?

It's a load of shit made up by children.

^Dude, you got over half of those Pokedex entries wrong. Kadabra is the human child and Metagross has the advanced brain. Heck, the examples you chose are some of the more tame ones.
Rhyhorn are known to charge wildly (and it only takes a bit of structural damage to take a building down).
Rapidash can learn Bounce.
Slugma, I'll admit, makes little sense.
People do transform into Pokemon in some of the games (just look at Bill or the Mystery Dungeon games).
And Metagross does have four brains.
