Ive been on this earth for 20+ years now and ever since I was 10 years old I wanted to see the night sky look like this

It's now one of my dreams to find such a place on a moonless night, with a flask full of something good, and company just as fine, and share a(or many) toast to every star, from the brightest to dimmest. for every bit of light they were willing to share with us we will toast to the night screaming

Non Vereor Nox, Viva La Stella

Late to the party but here's some recommendations:
-The side of the mountains in Stepantsminda, Georgia. The side that face away from the town. The town is small enough and dies down early enough that the light polution is pretty much non-existent.

-Far north Alberta, Canada. Likely home of the most amazing night skies I've ever seen.

-I forget where but it as in Scotland. More grassy than rocky but it was still a breathtaking night sky with with a large amount of fog below the summit, making it look like the world vanished.

Places that SEEM like good ideas but aren't:
-China. IMO China's amazing mountains are best at dusk. Night is, oddly enough, too dark. Note that light polution can travel surprisingly far, especially when cities are so big and reliant on motor vehicle use.

-Most of the USA. While they certainly have the locations for it there's a shocking amount of air traffick all over the country and light polution abound around the mountainous areas.

-Australia. Apparently home of the most amazing night skies in the world but you need to go far, far away from civilization to see them and like China, random shit there can actualy kill you.

Things to avoid when looking for a hermit's sky (or that's what we call these) and things to remember:
-Light. Cities, indutrial sites, highways, military sites. All of these make itimpossible to see a sky like this.
-Areas that are too high. All the really tall mountains are supreme levels of dangerous. DO NOT underestimate the mountain. You might see a glorious starfield and then never wake up again. They're also usualy overcast anyway.
-Night predators. Lots of animasl hunt at night and they're very good at it. Ever been bitten by a dog? Did it hurt? Did you need to go to the hospital? You have no idea.
-Restricted areas. Always check if you're actually allowed to be there. In some countries they can an will shoot you on site if it's a restricted area. Also be minful of local villages and such which might have places of historical or religious significance there.
-Remember that you actually have to go to these places. Hiking is expensive. Prepare well.

This has been a hopefully-helpful anouncement. I hope you can find your hermit's sky.
