oh my god. i just realized the Plain Doll is based off of Lady Maria appearance-wise. then again, in the noghtmare, Lady Maria was already dead.

The real interesting thing though is that Gerhman smiles in the first picture, while the Plain Doll has is the only one to smile after he did.

In the second pic its clear everything has gone tits up by this point, Old Yharnam- Ludwig and Lawrence- kos or some s... And despite both clearly having affection for the other, my interpretation, each chooses not to 'burden' the other and thus both end with fates worse than death.

So in a sense the Doll and Us are 'reincarnations' of them done right. Only this time the waifu is the older 'teacher' but one who nevertheless never stops loving us but neither ever hides said affection, while we are the gruff tsunderes. And thus we potentially achieve a happy ending in a lovecraftian story, of course with tentacles included.
