Look at it like this: it's night, you're alone in your room (because of course you are). It's quiet, but then you hear a tapping sound outside your window. You shrug and go about your business (being sand and alone), when you hear the sound again, louder this time.
You get up and hear the sound a third time, even louder and closer. You get a bit scared, but laugh it off. It's likely a bird or a branch or something. Then, you hear something smack against your window. Did a bird just fly into it?
Curious, you walk up to your window. You pull aside the curtains only to find NICOLAS CAGE RIGHT IN YOUR FACE. You did not even have time to scream.
