An account setting for "mute by default" would be better than blacklisting everything with sound. It's just a flag in the <video> definition.

Seriously - nothing these days should play sound the moment it opens. Not everyone uses headphones.

Having a lot of tags is great for searching, and good searching is necessary with a database as big as Gelbooru's. Tag limits (like at rule34.paheal.net) are detrimental to the site.

No matter how easy it is to block or identify posts which include sound, it's not going to address what I (and I expect others) really want, which is for our weird dickgirl porn to be silent instead of just quiet.

Most devices have a mute button for when you don't want them to make sound.

The problem is that many people have other programs outputting sound (music, movies, games, etc.), so muting is inconvenient.

Ezalias' idea of a "mute by default" option is probably the best solution.

I'm not going to disable sound on my entire computer (or my entire browser) just so Gelbooru doesn't moan in the middle of the song I'm listening to.

If Firefox had a browser setting to force playback options (e.g. ignore <video> tags and always loop / never autoplay / start muted) then I'd use that - but no such option exists yet. I could write a browser extension... but that seems like overkill just to maintain the status quo.
