Appearance In comparison to Samuel_B._roberts_(Kantai_Collection), Johnston is depicted as much taller and slightly more well-endowed (medium_breasts) with long pinkish light_brown_hair (long_hair) tied into a two_side_up style and brown_eyes. She wears a stylized serafuku which consists of an off-shoulder (off_shoulder) blue shirt with a black sailor_collar that exposes her cleavage and short black pleated skirt (black_skirt), along with black thighhighs (black_legwear) held by garter_straps with what seem to be metallic thigh and shin_guards and red rudder shoes (rudder_footwear). Johnston's damaged CG has her stripped of some of her clothing, revealing a bit of her black underwear. On her left hand she wears a single black glove (single_glove black_gloves), an oblique reference to the injuries to the left hand sustained by her captain, Lieutenant Commander Ernest E. Evans [1], including losing two fingers. Draped on her left upper arm is the US_Medal_of_Honor, presumably similar to the one posthumously awarded to Lieutenant Commander Evans for his actions in the Battle off Samar [2]. Her machinery consists of two smokestacks and two 5-inch cannon turrets with one set on each side of her rigging, with a third handheld turret (adapted_turret) on her right hand. Her hull number is emblazoned on each side of her lower rigs. Personality She is often compared to Amatsukaze_(Kantai_Collection) due to both having similar two_side up hairstyles and sailor outfits with gartered thighhighs as well as apparently sharing similar tsundere personalities. History The historical destroyer was part of the Taffy 3 party (which included Samuel_B._roberts_(Kantai_Collection) and Gambier_Bay_(Kantai_Collection)) and was sunk during the Battle off Samar [2] by successive firings from Kurita Takeo's forces, but not before scoring hits of her own, including those to Kumano_(Kantai_Collection). For her actions, she was given a Presidential Unit Citation and six battle stars, which shipgirl Johnston displays as one bronze star and one silver star (equivalent to five bronzes) on her collar. Trivia She's voiced by Shiraki Nao [3] and was designed by Zeco. Her namesake is Navy Lieutenant John V.
