Not really.
You see, in the Rance universe, it's not breaking the 4th wall.
XP, levels and skills are actual things that effect you in this universe.
If it were breaking the 4th wall it would acknowledge that it was a game, but it never does.

Why things are like this is even explained, though I won't say anything as that'd be spoilers.
