They used something called Gamma Correction.
It's not easy to explain but here's an article about it hsivonen.fi/png-gamma/
The image is basically hidden in the white spots and will only show when opened in a browser due to the gamma correction. This also only works with Png. That's why the preview show the normal Picture since it's a jpg.
If you look at the Gamma Levels in a Program like gimp you can see the hidden image on the right side and extract it
