I saw the artist post this on Tumblr a while back. I never thought of shinyness as such a negative survival factor in the wild. It's already a rare ocurrence, and the thought that some shiny pokemon are preyed upon before ever being found by people is a sobering one. Needless to say, this was a very well done take on the biology of the pokemon world. With a generous topping of feels.

To Anon2: Think of Shiny pokémon as the Albino-coloured in reality. Their colour is different...so most of the time, they won't survive (biologically or just getting straight-up killed). The topic Albino is also found in human behavior...because what happens if you don't run with the majority of the crowd? You get shunned at...ignored...rejected. Because: "you are/behave/act different(ly)"
Needless to say...I absolutely love how it's portrayed, kudos to the creator/writer. You've got my gratitude :3

To Anon2: Think of Shiny pokémon as the Albino-coloured in reality. Their colour is different...so most of the time, they won't survive (biologically or just getting straight-up killed). The topic Albino is also found in human behavior...because what happens if you don't run with the majority of the crowd? You get shunned at...ignored...rejected.
