One of the more amusing things about YGO, especially the pre-5Ds era when they learned to give supermonsters some kind of destruction protection, is how they keep hyping up all of these unstoppable ultra monster cards that could be easily handled with basic spells and traps.

The anime/manga came before the actual card game, so a lot of it is different to various degrees, especially stuff like any sort of uber cards, and a lot of stuff is also done simply for attempts at tension and drama (not all of it well), or after the card game came out, selling the cards.
So while, in terms of most anime Duels, it's easy to come up with much more simple ways of doing stuff or dealing with other stuff, even uber cards, the point isn't for "realistic Dueling", but attempts at tension, drama, and selling cards.
And as a random note. Sakuretsu Armor wouldn't work on Obelisk either way (the anime nor the real card). The anime prevents the God Cards from being (directly) destroyed by Trap Cards (so don't see the whole big deal over Blast Held By A Tribute), and the real life Obelisk can't be targeted by card effects (which Sakuretsu Armor does target the attacking monster).

@ Anon 2 i hate to correct you but they have changed the rulings on that slightly. the effects of sakuretsu can work 1 turn after obelisk summon. also magic cylinder can be chained to his attack and so forth.. TCG wise anyways i dont know all the OCG rulings..
