To be fair, she is referred to as Okami Amaterasu at least once or twice in game.

Ookami means great god, which amaterasu is, so saying you can't call amaterasu Ookami is like saying you can't call Obama, Mr. President. It's an honorific title if nothing else.

But then again, Obama is a real person, so it was fine to call him Mr. President while Amaterasu is a character so calling her by her title is just weird.
