Too bad your rival get's one later on, but Mega Rings items are extremely rare that only 4 trainers in the whole Kalos Region have one (the player, the Rival, Diantha (who had no idea what Mega Evolution was at first till Sycamore mentioned it), and Lysandre made an artificial one).

I imagine by next game that Mega Rings will be in larger quantities, or perhaps artificially made, hopefully all the Gym Leaders and Elite 4 will have a Mega accessory by next game, at least for Gym Leader Rematches and Elite 4 Rematches.
