She used to be called Blue, and the male rival used to be called Green, but they removed the girl protagonist from the original games and shifted the names around to represent the colors of the versions/cartridges.

^Just the american versions, where the rival is called Blue.

Rival was always Green in the original Japanese,so it's kind of more canon, that why he is tagged here as Green.

Neverthless, the girl in the pic ,even tough she looks almost exactly as Blue(the girl), is tagged by the artist as a genderswap of Green(the boy).
