Yes. Because obviously the small amount people you encounter(furthermore, most of them performing the same *pilgrimage* as you do)within the game are the only people that exists within Lordran and the dark souls universe.

at anon4: in lordran yes, but in the dark-souls universe? judging by the names of the people left in lordran there are at least the kingdoms of catharina, carim, astora, zena etc...
also there is supposed to be a land of the humans. not every human has a darksign.
but otherwise, yeah... lordran is fucked. you prolong the age of fire - and kill everyone (including the fucking lords themselves) on your quest. the surviving rest goes hollow... yay
