He doesn't strike me as actually looking like a Samurai.

Then again, even Japanese historical media can fail to portray the Samurai properly.

The fact that they change style every few centuries makes it more confusing.

This is from the 1954 film "Seven Samurai" by Kurosawa Akira.

Character shooting the bow is Kambei (played brilliantly by Shimura Takashi), one of titular seven samurai, and de facto leader of the seven.

His hair is short and un-samurai-like because he cut it to disguise as a monk to save a boy earlier in the film.

See the film people, not because its a classic (which it is), but because it is fucking awesome!

And yes, rain or shine, Kambei WILL kill you.
