Now Viewing: shinano_(kantai_collection)Tag type: Character 信濃 (Named after old Shinano Province [1]; now modern day Nagano Prefecture [2] The Imperial_Japanese_Navy aircraft_carrier of the same name as she might be depicted in Kantai_Collection. The historical Shinano was laid down on May 4, 1940. She was originally planned to be the third Yamato-class battleship, but after the loss of the aircraft carriers Akagi, Kaga, Hiryuu, and Souryuu after the Battle of Midway [3] she was converted into a supercarrier as her hull was partially incomplete. Shinano was capable of fielding the largest airwing of any aircraft carrier constructed by the end of World War II and was kept secret as she was meant to be a strategic surprise. Shinano was launched on October 8, 1944 (Originally planned to be launched in May 1945, but her construction was expedited due to the Battle of the Philippine Sea [4] and completed on November 19, 1944. Shinano however, was overall poorly constructed, hurriedly dispatched, and had an inexperienced crew aboard her and only ten days after her completion she was sunken by the USS Archerfish on November 9, 1944; never launching any aircraft. Shinano was the the largest warship ever sunken by a submarine. Shinano has yet to be added in Kantai Collection, but there seems to be a chance of her to be implemented due to a design (being drawn by an artist named youki) of her appearing in the official doujin books Teitoku no Natsuyasumi and Teitoku no Fuyuyasumi with the pages of her being titled "Future Asset". The two books were released in 2013 however, and she is not in the game yet. In Teitoku no Natsuyasumi/Fuyuyasumi she has long_hair dark brown_hair in a single_braid and green_eyes. She wears round_glasses, generic green and red Japanese clothes, and a yugake. She wields a bow and her flight_deck. This tag will be used if she is officially implemented into the game, but for now this tag is used for either fan designs or her Teitoku no Natsuyasumi/Fuyuyasumi design.
