I think I read somewhere one of the staff members of the anime said that if Pikachu ever evolved, him being a Raichu would be ridiculously powerful because of everything he's been through as a Pikachu.

He did use a Raichu during the Diamond & Pearl season, best we'll ever get. Can't wait til Iris beats Ash using a magikarp.....then bitches will die.
