Basically the little girl (cave spider) is just slacking and "skeleton-chan" tells her that she should be more productive or something, go outside, etc. and puts cave spider's book and food in a bucket then stores them in the chest, then while they're arguing Steve opens the chest and he's all like "Cool! An enchanted book and food! But why does the bread have saliva?"; then they both realize that Steve's there, then kill him.
