Protip: The reason people fall down so much in Babel Tower is because right before every jump in the climbing sections, there is a forced encounter, and when the game starts to load the battle, it disables jumping, which causes your characters to just run off the edge when you try to jump. So the key to making it up the tower quickly is to STOP AND WAIT every time you get to a jump, because you're going to get forced into a battle with Traffic Jams. Once the battle is finished, you should have no problem completing the jumps. There are few to no actual random encounters in Babel Tower, the vast majority are one-time forced encounters. You just need to be patient.
