I think Anon-261 is being a bit harsh. I know a couple of guys who think like that, and if they *did* actually try it, I can't imagine it working except for the most self-estranged and helpless of people.

More likely, at least one of her friends or relatives would be concerned enough to invite him over for a drink and add in that they don't tell anyone where they're going or when. And bring a shovel.
