The fact that everything is written in the Arubesh shows meticulous attention to detail. The cherry blossoms & star destroyer in the upper left background is a nice touch too.

Makes you really think what a tortured soul Anakin Skywalker was.

A sad yet amazing piece. I can imagine a 21 blaster salute in the distance.

'Course, Vader probably killed at least half of those people himself.

I get what the artist was going for, but I honestly don't think Vader gave a damn about his troopers. He's a powerful Sith which means he will crush anyone do get what he wants. The memorial for all the innocent people the empire killed would stretch out for miles.

It's out of character if you assume that the Sith are all baby-eating supervillains devoid of redeeming features like Lucas does, yeah.

Personally I prefer the idea that Vader is a complex and three-dimensional character who still believes (or wants to believe) that he's doing the right thing even after becoming a Sith. Real people, even fictional ones, don't generally wake up in the morning and wonder about how much evil they're going to do before lunch.

I know Darth Vader was suffering a lot inside, both figurative and literally, but that doesn't excuse his war crimes or his treason. He willingly chose the dark side, crushed almost every friend he had and helped create a wave of destruction across the galaxy. He always had some good left inside but evil unfortunately became his pastime.
