His resemblance with old man Zangetsu is striking. If it is true and he really IS Ichigo's father then it make a lot of since for Zangetsu to look like him.

it is not possible for him to be icihgo's father, since Ichigo has natural Shinigami powers. Ichigo would be pure Quincy if this guys was his father.

He doesn't even have to be grandfather. Distant relative would fit even better. "My son" would refer to his kinsmen like a patriarch would see his clan.
