actually I saw them as a kid. Ulysse 31 is a very interesting series, with an interesting sci-fi meets greek mythology background. And it conveys more than one layer of understanding each episode. At that time there were no "tv cartoon scenarists" in france, so the stories were made by people who wanted to convey solid stories with an actual meaning. Of course it has changes and a lot of today's stuff is no more food for though.

Actually Jayce was animated by five Japanese studios: Sunrise, Shaft, Studio Giants, Studio Look and Swan Production. TMS only animated Inspector Gadget and Ulysses 31. All were produced by DiC Entertainment, whose main headquarters was located in France until it moved to the US in 1983.
