Thanks to you I've suffered a trauma now.
But at least you've proved me that there's a bass guitar with 8 machine heads.
Even though I don't understand how it works.

yes... apparently it's h.j.freaks.
the one in the front is tissue hime. also a crossdresser.
and the bassist on the right is irojiro I believe.
the other two are probably the singers.

Instrument junkie says: I would like to introduce you now to a very rare but still awesomely cool instrument, the electric tremolo-bass. It has 8 strings played in pairs (Four courses of two strings) and is tuned either GDAE, two octaves lower than the mandolin, or CGDA, two octaves below the mandola. It is related to the four-string mandobass witch is tuned EADG, like a double bass viol. I haven't seen the 8 string variety much but the 4 string electric mandobass was heard in Bon Jovi's "Lay Your Hands on Me".

aha. so then it is a 4 string bass with additional 4 strings tuned in octaves.
just like the 12 string guitar?
how boring. on the picture it looks like every string
splits in two and so they're tuned on the heads. which made no sense to me.
but I guess the artist don't know much about instruments.

^ I don't believe they are tuned in octaves but in unison, like a mandolin. Imagine being able to play 16 beat on a super-long bass like it's nothing.
