Look dude edison found out about the scientific applications of electricity at about around the same time as when Nikola Tesla discovered the scientific applications of static electricity, BUT if you are going to pull that one then I have one last trick up my sleeve, Benjamin franklin.

^ Except Uncle Ben just proved lightning *was* electricity. Harnessing it...that was left to other. Edison was just more notorious for making claims about stuff he really didn't deserve credit for.
