For some reason, artists seem to draw the wrist holes too big. The idea is to not allow them to move their hands/arms around or the possibility.

Oddly enough in the closeup pic (link below) there is no wrist hole gap, which is how a pillory restraint is supposed to hold a captive. Simply artist inconsistency.
