@Anon2: That it is. I think it's intended to be a death-scenario, which I don't like.
So I like to think that it only attacked her because of being afflicted by "Confusion" - and since it "eats" her with her clothes on, it will hopefully ingest her items (which should contain at least one Full Cure) before her body, clearing up the Confusion and leaving her alone (albeit still poisoned).

@Nihil-Unfortunately, I don't think that will help. Just going by the game pokedexes, muk is so poisonous that anywhere it steps is barren for three years after, just it's smell will knock a person out, just it's touch kills plants instantly, and causes humans to fall ill.
And those darkened parts of her skin in the last panel look like beginning necrosis. Even if, by some miracle, she got away from the muk, and got immediate medical attention, chances are that her slightly extended life would only be a world of agony.
Pokemon is a scary ass world.

@Nihil-A problem with that, though. A full heal doesn't fix confusion. It may cure her poisoning, but she's be immediately poisoned again, since she's still inside Muk.
Plus, I think she was talking about the psychic attack called Confusion, and that it was keeping her from moving, which is odd because Muk can't learn that.

@WhiteWhiskey: I googled the Pokemon status ailment "Confusion", and found a site called "Bulbapedia". >.>
There, it lists Confusion as "the only volatile status ailment to be able to be cured by items that heal all status ailments ... such as Full Heals and Lum Berries".
I think there's an "only" missing in that quote, but I break it down to Full Heal healing all status ailments - including Confusion.
That said, it still wouldn't help Misty much. :<

So yeah, who else thinks that a flamethrower and a hand cannon should be required equipment for going into tall grass/caves, given what PokeDex entries say? I mean, just in CANON there's Pokemon that try to drag you to hell (Drifloon/Drifblim) and Pokemon that will convert you into something... else... (Yamask and its evolution), not to mention FUCKING EVERYTHING ELSE.
