Hmm... My two cent about it.
Ib, personally, I would've seen her as 'The Lover', because, not only her flower represent love, but because The Lover is a representation of love/friendship, connection, individuality, affinity, choice, temptation and doupt. She is overqualified !
Interestingly, the Lover represent also choice, and is portrayed with one man between two woman, and you see Gary and Mary ? See what I mean ?
The Fool is very good too, she is a mute protagonist, a little girl who is said to be unusualy mature for her age. She is also shown to do questionable thing, though not necessary ill-intended. Futhermore, she have an unlimited potential, since well... every choice her/the player can do lead to a lot of outcome.
Well, a near-unlimited potetial... I really, really want an Golden Ending. If we had it, she would be a very good candidate for The Temperance.
In some variation of 'Ib All alone', she is a good candidate for 'The Hermit', which is sad, yes, but I wanted to point it out.
Garry, Nothing to say, I think he perfectly fit The Hanged Man, hell, Word of God himself seem to support that in-game.
I think that The Magician wouldn't work, because Gary is never, ever seen seen as someone with ill-ambitions, or even ambitions in the first place. He is just a great nice guy, which make him a good candidate for The Fool, but more importantly, The Hanged Man.
Mary, The Devil is a good card for her, after all, her ambitions and her goals are clearly seen to enslave her grealty, and in many ending, it cause her downfall. She also have some symptome, she is agressive, rather controlling, and manipulative.
Personaly, I think that The Magician fit her better, a Reverse one, she have a good deal of manipulative skills, she take multiple action on her own, she is focused on her goals, to the point to blind herself, and damn, she really move arround quickly. Futhermore, she have a great potential, she could be better than that, and yet, she waste it in doing harsh and violent action.
That's all for my two cent, I'll finish by saying that all the characters are good candidate for the Fool, in their own way. Just think about it.
