Artist's Commentary:

Patchwork Girl

This is a girl who gets afflicted with unidentified sarcomas, and so loses her limbs, part of her back muscles and heart, half her face and one eye. She regains consciousness, but restoring her completely with the current state of regenerative treatment is prohibitively time-consuming and expensive. Just when she and the hospital have given up hope, a certain corporation offers to provide her with the latest-model artificial limbs, heart, and muscles. All are made from organic components and integrate with the recipient, so they match with the recipient's growth and require no replacement of parts. At first, only her eye colors are mismatched, but they say the logos and such all over her body will vanish with time. As a condition of the parts being free of charge, she will cooperate in follow-up studies from here on. She is also made to participate in in-house study groups, such as analytic research of her excised sarcomas and secret decontamination work. However, neither she nor her family know the reason for the latter demand. At any rate, she's doing well.
