If I remember right, didn't Gilgamesh get tainted by the Corruption hidden within the Grail so he became even more of an asshole than he already was? That corruption probably didn't do him any favors in the mental arena, so to say... Might be why he didn't think much about Enkidu, as far as we got to see.

Apparently his ego was so strong that the corruption didn't affect him at all, it only gave him a flesh and blood body.
