I don't understand why people like Hidan and Deidara so much. Are people more interested about crazy bad guys nowadays, instead of baddies that actually act calmly and are smart (Kakuzu for example). Oh well, I guess I'm the section of people who always liked the Riddler and Penguin over the Joker and Bane.

Deidara's not that crazy. He's just obsessive over his art. Though I will agree I don't see the appeal with Hidan. And I will agree that both Sasori and Kakuzu are better than Hidan and Deidara.
I mean Hidan got taken out by one kid: Shikamaru. Nothing wrong with Shikamaru, but I'm just saying Kakuzu had to take on Kakashi who is about as smart and about four times as skilled, and was taken out by the world's most unpredictable ninja with one of the most devastating, and newest jutsus the world has seen. And Sasori is probably one of the most underrated Akatsuki characters in general. I mean he had so much potential, and his stats were second only to Itachi's. Yet he got beaten by Kankuro in the Fourth Shinobi War? Are you fucking kidding Kishimoto. Hopefully Kakuzu doesn't get taken out as easily as Sasori.

to Anon2: Don't forget that Hidan killed Asuma. So it needed a 'pre-fight' b4 Shikamaru could defeat him. Also Hidan killed some other Persons b4 the fight against team 10 (aka Nijuu Shoutai here).
They could indeed have lengthened the fight against the 2tails a little - one episode more. - but i guess then Kakuzu and Hidan wouldn't look so impressive powerful anymore (4 the viewer).
