As odd as it seems, the main characters for the first two are the same person. or it is implied heavily at the end of shadow, as Wander turns into a horned baby, and is carried off by the girl.

All of those theories have plenty evidence to go by but in the end it doesn't matter since the director of the games specifically stated that the Ico and Shadow (Not sure if Last Guardian is included) are indeed connected but he said we as a player have to make up the details.
