Cuff links can be manufactured from a variety of different materials, such as glass, stone, leather, metal, or a combinations of these. Unlike buttons which are sewn onto cuffs, cuff links are detachable and are secured onto cuffs through a variety of methods. The visual difference between the two is that buttons have holes (so that they can be sewn on), while cuff links do not.
