Opinion: Most ecchi anime sucks, and it's dying decline is well deserved.

I've been wanting to make this topic for a long while now. I think about this subject often whenever I hop onto Gelbooru. I briefly considered drafting a longer essay, but I realize no one really cares or has the time for that, lol. So I'll sum it up as quickly as possible.
I was a hardcore ecchi fanatic in my puberty years. Back when Youtube and Dailymotion would allow for subbed full episodes of Ecchi anime, I became addicted to these super horny Japanese cartoons. At first, I was shocked, flabbergasted, and pearl clutching at how perverted these japanese cartoons were........ and then.... I quickly evolved a superfan addicted to these bizzarely lewd titty cartoons from the East.
But as an adult, I've decided to rewatch some of my favorite ecchi series. One of them in my backlog was To Love Ru (I watched a few episodes over a decade ago, but never came close to finishing the series) and let me say this: I fucking hate To Love Ru. And by extension, most ecchi anime that are similar to this particular show. It's painfully unfunny, it's filled with so many cliches, the characters are all annoying and bland, the comedy, dramatic, and romance are all poorly done and never mix well. I'm not the least bit invested in any of these characters, and all of the fanservice scenes are just jammed in the most clumsy, cliche way possible. So I dropped it quickly, once I realized I've got nothing more to milk from this oversized titty.
Ecchi is a dying genre. Even fapservice, a website focused solely on documenting anime fanservice shots, has noted that both the quality and quantity of fanservice anime has declined greatly ever since the early 2010's. Isekai and SOL romcoms, have adapted ecchi elements, and have more going for them than just cheap fanservice. Mushoku Tensei and My Dress-Up Darling each have their ecchi moments, but actually have worthwhile plots unlike pure ecchi.
And the most important bit: The evolution of fan made hentai has made ecchi anime obsolete. We're now approaching levels of quality where fan-made animations outshine official productions. There's a chainsaw man porn animation that looks like an official OVA. There's a Tifa Lockhart animation that looks like a CGI cutscene. Hell, even the short gif loops get the masturbational job done just as well as a 20 minute ecchi anime episode.
In the end, ecchi anime seems to be slowly getting replaced by fan made porn, actual hentai, and other genres of anime with both fanservice and actual substance, and I feel like this fate was well deserved. Pointless teasing for a pussy shot that never exists, pointless characters that exist for a vehicle for overused tropes, painfully unfunny "something made me flash my panties/boobs, now you must die, virgin male character" jokes over and over, pointless romance teases that never end in an actual declaration of love; all of these tropes should all be put out to pasture. We don't need to put up with these shitty, time wasting tropes any more.
TL;DR Used to be a big ecchi fan as a horny young teenager, now realized just how pointless and fucking annoying they are, and the recent huge explosion of high-quality fan made porn have rendered ecchi fairly pointless. There's very little point in watching a pointlessly idiotic slop of an "anime" just to see some titty or panty, when you can watch porn animations featuring any copyrighted waifu you wish, with uncensored parts and fluid animation, all for free. Once fan animation reaches a stage where 24 minute "episodes" are feasible, ecchi anime will soon have nothing left going for it.
There are a few ecchi anime I still enjoy, such as Manyuu Hiken-chou, Queen's Blade, Seikon No Qwaser, Maken-Ki, and Valkyrie Drive have amazing fanservice animation, but are otherwise medicore shows. However the rest I've watched, tend to be fucking obnoxious (To Love Ru, Kanokon, and Ladies vs. Butler, etc.)

Hoho. My fav Ecchi anime/manga is To Love-Ru and that one was clearly designed to be an ecchi saga, the designs are not like super lewd. I hate Rito, but I love Lala.
