The TOS is completely messed up; morally objectionable should go, grotesque should stay, not the other way around.
Moral is a social construction often based on religious values.

"Grotesque" is based on actual physical traits that deviate from the norm set by human bodily traits.

If we go by this then it is fairly obvious that you are wrong and the TOS is right.

I disagree. The history and anthropology of pierced lips, stretched ears, flattened heads, deformed feet, elongated necks, and ablated clitorises is my counterexample.

Wow, what a high-handed, condescending thing to say.

1) I'm not religious.

2) If you want to go by that standard, most humans aren't muscular or "beautiful" either, so we should delete all the pics of anyone who's better-than-average looking. We should just have galleries of rather obese people.

Look, let's be honest. To a large part, this is a porn site. If it's not illegal, and it turns people on, I think we should keep it. Don't like it? Add the tags to your blacklist! There's a ton of tags and kinks I can't stand, but I'm not agitating for their removal. I'll just set things so I don't have to see them, while letting them be there for those who want them can keep them.

1. This is not a porn site.
2. The blacklist feature is NOT a substitute to actual moderation.
3. The rules here are based on what the owner wants on his site. People don't seem to get this. It's not based on some grand "this is what's good for the community", or "what advertisers care about" (actually, lozer has stated that he specifically avoids advertisers that would make him restrict content), or anything else. It's as simple as that lozer doesn't seem to mind morally objectionable stuff, but he doesn't want grotesque stuff.

Make sense? There's really nothing more to it than that.

I'm starting to wonder though. Are most of the people here for porn?

The scoring pattern of images seems to suggest it is.

Now say you take a real porn site with a lot of real porn. Say an archive of 10,000 adult movies and adult 500,000 images.

Does it automatically drop its status as a porn site just because you add 20,000 safe movies and 2,000,000 safe images? It was still a porn site before. And it still has a significant amount of porn now. And most of your fans and hits are there for the porn.

I always accepted the fact that Gelbooru was not a porn site in the past... but then the information I just wrote occurred to me. Consider that a significant amount of newcomers and other viewers are using this website MOSTLY for porn. Even if it isn't meant for that purpose alone, (Or even not meant for that purpose initially) the advertisements are mostly being viewed by porn fans. That fact that most of those adverts are pornographic as well basically means that those websites that pay Lozer recognize his website as pornographic. (Or at least that Lozer's hits are here for porn and would take interest in porn sponsors.

It changes everything more than you know.

People use Danbooru for nothing more than porn, also use the "___booru is a porn site" mantra, and Danboorus advertisement is usually from J-Lists rude section, so does that make that place nothing more than a porn site full of moderators who have complexes?

Possibly?

I usually consider Danooru to be a Touhou site with porn. That's what they upload. But on account of the fact that they do not let everyone vote on images anymore... I can't really judge what people are actually viewing off of ratings. (In either case of Danny or Gel I can't see the actual view count per page)

It turns out spyware and other malware designed with the intent of selling you products want to know what it is you are looking at. They don't care for other things on the site you are on but aren't viewing.

Gelbooru makes it easier to judge what the viewers want, what they are looking at and what they are ignoring.

In any case: that is all. I completely forgot what thread I was on when I posted these things so it'll probably become a separate thread on its own soon.

Even if, what's your point? Should we just not moderate anything because someone somewhere will like it?

Oh sorry I wasn't really talking about moderation. That's why I mentioned that this was the wrong thread for my posts. I was merely responding to mere fraction of Jerl's post.

I've never been upset with Gelbooru's moderation that much. Even when they delete an image by accident. Probably because I've agreed with MOST of said deletions. Even when the deleted image was my own.

Someone somewhere will always like something really weird. Like child porn. But that's illegal almost evyerhwere so it must be moderated.

Though I do dislike intense moderation like Danbooru's. Ever since I discovered booru.org I stopped caring about what rules each one has. There will always be a way for people to get access to that which Gelbooru will not allow. I've been telling other users and anons this as well.

I use EX for doujins, and Danbooru for comics and the images that should be allowed here but aren't because of that silly artist rule.
