Is PyGelbooru Safe?
Posted on: 04/05/24 11:50AM

Does anyone know if PyGelbooru, the unofficial Python package for supporting the Gelbooru API, is safe?
I was hoping to check to see if anyone here could vouch for it before installing it & using my API access token with it.

PyPI page: (pypi.org/project/pygelbooru/)
GitHub page: (github.com/rainyroads/pygelbooru)

Also, one of the contributors on the GitHub page has the username jedi2light. Is that the moderator jedi1357, or are the usernames just coincidental?

I'd DM jedi1357 myself, but, of course, I can't actually message people yet because I guess uploading well-tagged and sourced content, adding missing tags, and having conversations in the forum don't prove you're not a spam bot, but writing 10 shitpost-y messages a day in the comments sections of a porn board somehow does.

Bumping this thread to see if any other just members have used PyGelbooru and can vouch for or warn against it. Has anyone on the forum used this package?

I recommend you to check out the Issues page on the GitHub. also it's open source, so I wouldn't worry so much. I think the worst thing that can happen to you is that the library has a bug or incompatibility and doesn't work properly. Either way, you can look at the library's code yourself or even create your own library, which isn't too complicated.
