adulthood doesnt mean anything except you're now free to do what you want without having to conform to what anyone else thinks. if its weird who cares.
I used to collect scale figures, 1/8 to 1/6, but stopped a couple years ago. Too expensive, especially with the hefty import tax, while taking up too much space. I have 77 of them, that's more than enough. Besides, newer anime doesn't really capture much interest anymore. Most expensive one was probably Good Smile's Ultimate Madoka. I do have a couple 18+ figures too.
Some of my oldest ones really suffer from quality degradation issues, sadly. One case of warping color, and a handful that have a bad case of sweating.
I occasionally switch around which one gets to stand on my main desk. Right now it's my favorite, Kurehito Misaki's Alice from Skytube, obviously with her top off and panties down. Great inspiration for my writing. Just spend your available money on whatever you want, in moderation. That's what it's there for.
No hobby you could possibly have could ever be more shameful than being the kind of person who thinks they're in charge of what hobbies others are *allowed* to have. And the thing about judgmental people is that appeasing them never works. Judging is their identity, they will just find a new thing to rag on you about. The only winning move is to not play. Just be yourself
People collect what they want to collect. If you can balance it with your bills, etc. go knock yourself out. Mainly have 2 figures from like 10 years ago still, Utsuho and Cirno by Griffon Enterprises. Does make me happy though that they've lasted for so long and have been taken care of
There is a current problem though collecting Telescopes. Thing is, each one does something different. Have a reflector for visual viewing, and a catadioptric and refractor for astrophotography. One for galaxies, the other for nebula's. Currently waiting for a inhouse made refractor to come (2+ year waiting list). Wife knows it's coming, but no idea how much it was. Lord have mercy.
Side Note: used to think, and somewhat still do, whenever "refractor" is heard or read, think of the power gems from Megaman Legends
