Keep it civil, do not flame or bait other users. If you notice anything illegal or inappropriate being discussed, contact an administrator or moderator.
There are 2 reasons why there aren't that many new faces in the forum: 1. The forum is kinda hidden and irrelevant for your average user. 2. This is a personal theory, but most people using this site are unlikely to be the type of people who has something to say, especially if you take in consideration how RP is forbidden for being cringe.
I would have to compare it to other forum from similar sites (Danbooru, Sankaku, e621, rule34.xxx, rule34.us, etc.), but the fact that I don't know how many people are in there makes me think there aren't going to be as many, e621 makes it look like there are a lot tho but that's because of the "tag requests"

Good point.
I believe you have to be a bit weird to like commenting here. You find something here that is not in other places. And that's what makes you keep coming back. It could be certain freedoms. It could be certain people. It could be a sense of community.
Yeah I really hope he's okay too. He was a bit like the friendly old sage of the forum, and I always liked his insight and positivity.

Danbooru doesn't really have a social forum; all forum posts are related to tagging and metadata.
Rule 34 xxx has a much more active forum than here. There's at least 3x the amount of regular users. Though much of it is RP nonsense, which could explain why.
Also I left a good number of anonymous comments when I was 14-16, back when I was too afraid to get an account, lol.
I'm lead to believe it's impossible for anonymous comments to be tied back to anyone after a certain period of time, however I do remember a few specific ones that I left behind.
